What makes a patient step down?

Asked by Dominick Green

Patients may often be defined as “stepdown” by exclusion (i.e., that they no longer meet any criteria for full intensive care). These patients may still require frequent monitoring and/or nursing care and may also have some minimal organ support requirement.
